Women’s Golf Equality

Women’s golf has been become extremely popular over the past few years and there are currently as many professional women golfers as there are men. Golf equipment companies have also recognized the amount of women interested in the sport and have customized many pieces of golf equipment including golf clubs, drivers and golf bags to be more comfortable for women. You can also have your own golf equipment custom-made; making golfing more comfortable and efficient for women since men’s clubs were often to big. These are just a few of the steps which have been taken to welcome women into the world of golf and ensure that they are comfortable and treated as equally as possible.

Women’s golf associations such as the LPGA have also contributed to the popularity of women’s golf and given women the respect they deserve. Women golfers are now featured in Golf Digest magazine, Golf for Women and a number of other magazines dedicated strictly to women’s golf. Videos and TV shows are also contributing to the popularity of this sport and giving women the “drive” they need to pursue careers in this field.

It was not until earlier this year, that women’s golf took a leaping step in the right direction when professional golfer and top LPGA player, Annika Sorenstam was told she could play against the men in a PGA tournament. Many people predicted how they thought Sorenstam would do when she teed-off against some of the best male golfers in the world. Some people had positive encouragement to contribute while others were chauvinistic and down-right rude.

Phil Mickelson, 2nd in the overall moneymaking standings last year, had no problem playing against a woman and claimed that he thought Sorenstam would end up 20th overall, when she predicted herself to be 28th. Other golf professionals were not so eager to give Sorenstam the benefit of the doubt. Vijah Singh actually resigned from the tournament because he felt he could not play with a women. He claimed that Sorenstam simply “did not belong” in a men’s tournament.

Nonetheless, having a woman play in the PGA, even for a short while, was a huge accomplishment which could potentially pave the road for future development in women’s golf.

Focused Tennis Energy

Then you have to keep asking yourself that same question for your whole coaching career.

If you are a competitive tennis player, then you need to asking yourself this,

“How can I master playing the mental game”.

I think it’s time to change the names of the tours to,

(The ATP Mental Tennis Tour or The WTA Mental Tennis Tour).

Just joking guys.

No, but seriously.

The fact is that the top ranked players in the world, I mean the world class players here, have LEARNED how to focus their energy on court.

The reason for this is, they practice it everyday.

While the lower ranked players never work on their mental games in practice.

“All top tennis players can block out defeats, setbacks and outside forces and stay focused on their tennis goals.”

While the other players tend to struggle and keep struggling in their playing careers.

Which brings me to my mental tip that I have for you today.

Get in harmony and align with your mental game and nothing can stop you.

“Everything is energy and the best tennis players focus their energy on only thoughts, that can and will empower them.”

I read before that 90% of all tennis players, focus on their failures and what they can’t do on the court.

That’s a big mistake, because thinking this way will always create the following problem for them in matches.

Nervous energy, instead of focused energy.

Many tennis players are struggling in match play right now as I write this.

And the reason for this is simple.

They don’t have a mental game.

ACTION TIP

For the next week, don’t have anything to do, with anyone or any thoughts, that weaken or drain you of your energy.

Feed your focused energy, by thinking only empowering thoughts and about your tennis goals and writing them down 2 twice a day.

First, just focus and get through that first week, do what you have to do to reach 1 week.

It’s very important, because you want to get out of the negative energy force field, that you are in right now!!

And this can help you do just that.

Etiquette to Follow in Wave Surfing

Pay respect to the local surfers- Most of us are passionate about this hobby we have and like to spread the knowledge. This goes for any hobby but most especially for those with tight knit communities. Many surfers are more than willing to teach you the ins-and-outs of surfing, the tides of your local beach, how to paddle out without being pounded to a sandbar and the courtesy involved with the sport. If you are new in the sport, ask for help.

Purchase the right board for your surfing area- if the area has a small surf wave, don’t buy short surf boards. Short boards often plow through the water and make it difficult to paddle fast in catching small waves. Small boards usually feature a stomp pad on the back which is often used in extremely tight maneuvers like cutbacks. When you are unsure about what board to get, you can ask for the help of the surf-shop employees of the shop found in your locality.

Use the right wax for your conditions – This is important. One of the things that can frustrate you the most is when you are out in the water and you keep on slipping off the board because you have the wrong wax. There are two kinds of wax, typically. The cold-water wax is softer and stickier than wax that is for warm water. If your water is cold enough that this kind of wax will not melt, then use it. Warmer weather, however, is problematic for cold-water wax since it has a low melting point and will run off the board leaving your fiberglass board slippery and you will fall off every time you try to stand up.

Surf the outside break- there are a lot of newbie surfers who try to surf wave on the shore break. This could be the most common mistake. These aren’t the waves that people surf. If you surf these you will never get any significant ride. You will also put your surf board to be damaged if you surf the shore break- the skeg or the stabilizing fin located at the bottom of the surfboard can get caught in the sand and snap off which sends you off flying into the sand. Look for sandbars where the waves break away from the shore. This would let you surf wave on the deep enough water over the sand bar without breaking your board. It also gives you room to maneuver.

If you live in a cold climate, do not go surfing in winter – It may be tempting, and the waves are often best in winter. A number of surfers do surf during the winter but that is not a wise thing to do. Surfing in the cold water of winter can bring about a condition called “surfer’s ear.” This is that growth in the ear that would let you lose an essential amount of hearing in that specific ear. It is caused by cold water entering the ear canal. Surfing waves during the winter season is definitely not worth it, trust me.

Learning Surf Like a Pro

There is a very fine art to surfing that you will develop over long hours out in the open water. In the beginning it is helpful to go to a surfing academy to learn the basics of surfing, and to be instructed by professionals on how to surf properly. It is also possible to learn how to surf on your own, but you can speed the process up quite a bit by going to a surfing school or at least taking a few classes whenever possible. You will find yourself progressing much faster if you choose to do this.

Along with learning how to surf by attending surfing school, the quality of the surfing gear you have will also play a major role in how quickly you get better. Cheaper and lower quality surfing gear will impede your progress and also dampen your enthusiasm along the way, so it is definitely advisable to go out of your way to purchase some quality surfing gear if you are serious about this sport. You can find a lot of high quality surfing apparel and surf boards at various online stores selling the latest products from the world’s best surfing manufacturers. It is also easy to find good deals on this stuff by purchasing it from online stores.

Surfing gear can be purchased at numerous online retailers as well as at local stores, so make sure to have a good look around. It is quite likely that you will find a variety of price ranges too, so if you are concerned about landing a good deal it is recommended to search carefully. By checking out various options it will definitely not be long before you find the perfect board and the perfect gear to go along with it. This will help you out a lot on your way to becoming a pro surfer.

Surfing is a lot of fun, but to get better you need to have the right gear. Make sure to look at a number of stores and check out the latest in special deals and offers online. Like this you will soon have everything you need to make it as a pro surfer in the future.

Tips For Playing Big Points

  • Play it on your terms

You want to start and play the point on your terms.

End of point.

Never start a big point, actually, any point for that matter, until you are mentally ready to play it.

This will allow you to play yourself into a good rhythm in your matches and who knows, you may find yourself in the (Tennis ZONE) before the match is over!!

  • No cheap points

Make your opponent earn the point and don’t give away easy points.

Your first objective is to get the serve in or get the return in, whatever you do, don’t miss it!

Because the top players aren’t going give you any cheap points.

They play every point hard and smart!!

  • See it, before you play it.

“This is the mental tip that you need to practice on everyday. “

At first, you may not be able to do it on court, but keep on doing it in practice.

Visualizing a point before you play it is going to help you learn how to play them better and then this is going to also help you start playing the bigger point better.

Quick tip to leap-frog the learning curb on this one!!

“Everyday practice holding one thought at a time, for as long as you can. “

If you are like most players, that is going to be for only a few seconds.

Now, after a week of doing this, you will be able to do it longer.

Carry this concentration over into your practice time and that is when you will be able to dominate your mental game.

I told my student the other day,

“If you can’t win the big points, you will never win the big matches”.

Are you guys feeling me on this one?

Great, because that is the whole point of this post here today.

I need to get back to the Kei vs Johnson match now that is going on!!

Useful Driver Golf Swing Tip

These days, what you are able to do while already on the course and in a game is pitiful little and performance and results lean rather heavily on the work you have put in prior to entering the course for your game.

If you have been wondering why your game has been deteriorating so much in recent times, or why you always end up getting so frustrated these days on the course. The answer could be simply the fact that more and more of your opponents on the course are making better preparations than you are.

So it is not that your game has deteriorated, rather your opponents are getting increasingly fitter and therefore better. Here is how.

Golf specific exercise programs and tips in particular have been known to have a major effect on any golfer’s driver golf swing impact on the course.

We have seen very young golfers barely in their teens increase their drives by 50 yards or more after a very brief period in a golf specific exercise program.

This is the single driver golf swing tip that has had the biggest effect on golf games all over the country and beyond. More than any other driver golf swing tip viewed on a video or received during a special session from some pro.

You it is clearly emerging that without a conditioned body to take in the pressures of the game and to perform, most driver golf swing tips usually end up being completely useless to a golfer, mainly because they can not implement them.

And like most life-changing tips that revolutionize people’s lives, it all sounds too deceivingly simple to make a difference. But the fact of the matter is that golf specific exercises are the most powerful driver golf swing tip.

Tennis Racquet String Tension

Since all tennis rackets recommend different tensions (they are generally somewhere in the 50 or 60 pound range), there is not one tension that can be recommended. You can only use the following guidelines. Lower tension increase power and higher tensions increase control. With a lower tension, the racket acts almost like a trampoline. The ball hits the racket, the strings quickly form a small pocket (relative to the tennis string tension) and your swing and strings shoot the ball out of the pocket. Obviously, this is a little over exaggerated, but it is a metaphor to how the strings respond with a lower tension. This all results in a little less control.

Racquet string tension that is on the high side causes the racquet to act more like a board or “brick wall”. This tight racket string tension causes the ball to flatten out more, which allows the strings to have a better bite on the ball. This, in essence, provides more control. Many players prefer tighter strings but it does have a board like feel that you may not like. It is also important to keep in mind that racket string tension will feel different with different rackets. Some tennis rackets are flexible while others are stiff. Your current tension may feel very different on a different racket even though they have the same recommended string tension.

Tennis string tension really becomes a matter of personal preference and trial and error. And it starts all over again if you get a new tennis racket. So just remember the basics:

  • Higher string tension means reduced power but more control
  • Lower string means more power but reduced control

Now that I have said all of this, I will throw a kink into the mix. These guidelines really apply to those tennis players who are passed the beginning stage of tennis and are a more intermediate or advanced player. A beginner could be hitting balls all over the place but a higher or tighter racket string tension is not going to help them out with better control. A beginner would most likely benefit from a lower tension because the strings will be more forgiving and help with the number of off center hits that they have. I would suggest that a beginning tennis player stick with the mid-range string tension that is recommend for the tennis racket.

Tips For Practice

Your success is tied to your attitude, so for those players that are struggling with their mental game now, take a hard look at the type of attitude you are taking to practice everyday.

Next one.

Write Everything Down

Think on paper and write down your practice plan and also picture yourself doing them in your mind while you are doing this.

The best way to do this is to write it down after practice.

Then look at it again before your next practice, by recording things down, you will gain clarity and focus and this alone can help you become more efficient in practice.

This can also help you reduce the amount of stress you are feeling on the court and boast your energy level up.

Make The Adjustments

You have to make the needed adjustment before, in and after practice if you want to become more successful with them.

The one big mistake that many tennis players make, is that they don’t make the adjustments that they need to everyday.

They just keep doing the same things over and over again and they expect different results from doing that.

Here are some examples.

When working on a drill, you should never miss 3 shots in a row.

Because if you miss the first one, and make a adjustment, then if you miss that one too, you can then make the last tweak and make the shot.

You can do this with a playing pattern too.

Anytime I see a player in practice, not getting the right results, I soon find out that they are not working the drills right.

It’s the not the drill that is the problem, it’s the player who is working on the drill, that is the problem.

See if you can implement these 3 tips for practice as soon as you can.

But first, make sure you pass the PMA Test.

That is a hard test, so it make take you a while to do it, but get that done first and then focus on bringing on board the over 2 practice tips as well.

Good luck and have some fun!!

Basic Badminton Skills Should Learn

In Asia, badminton is a game where families (especially fathers) bring their kids to badminton courts on weekends. Dad will teach their kids the very basic skills in badminton. Since young, kids would have picked up the basic techniques. When they grow up, they’ll find their group of friends to play badminton. With a solid badminton background, these kids explore further skills in badminton and start to develop new advanced techniques. Badminton is not only a national sport to some Asian countries; it is also an inherited culture where families and friends maintain relationships.

My point here is, you will only need to learn basic badminton skills at the beginning. Once you have mastered these basics, you won’t need to learn advanced techniques. You will naturally develop them! Executing strong smashes, performing quality deceptions, or diving to defend a smash… You’ll find badminton exciting when you are able to perform these techniques! Learn the correct basics in badminton and practise them. When you possess strong basic skills, you will eventually develop advanced techniques by yourself.

The most important basic badminton skills you should learn are:

Gripping technique: The correct way of gripping a badminton racquet enables you to transfer more power into your badminton strokes.

Basic badminton stroke (full arm swing): When you have mastered the basic badminton swing motion, you will be able to use it to perform a badminton clear, drop shot, and smash.

Footwork: Badminton is a game of speed. Effective and organised footwork plays an important role in enabling you to move faster around the badminton court. It’s simple! Just learn, practise, and master these 3 basics and you will find yourself exploring new advanced techniques by yourself.

A few examples of advanced badminton techniques are: Fast attacks (maximum wrist action). Attacking clear. Net kill. Deception.

However, I recommend you master the basics first before trying these new skills. Badminton basics are the most important techniques in the game and the key to master the game is to master the basics first. Pick these skills up and you’ll be well on your way to better game performance!

Cure a Golf Hook

  • Weaken your Grip – You could be playing with a grip that is too strong. You’ll want to simply rotate both hands around the grip and towards the target. This will make it much harder for the clubface to naturally close through the impact zone. Don’t over do it, and like everything else, testing is crucial. Make sure to test this, before moving on, unless you are positive that you already play with a weak grip.
  • Move the ball forward in your stance – It is common of players that slice the ball to play the ball forward in their stance. So copy them. If you hook, the result should be a relatively straight ball. (Side Note: Whether you hook or slice, your first goal should be to learn to do the opposite.) Moving the ball forward in your stance should get some things back on track.
  • Aim to the left (to the right if left handed) of the target – Start out with an open stance to the target. This will put that clockwise rotation on the ball that you are looking for. Just open your stance a little bit, and swing along the line of your shoulders.
  • Make sure that you are finishing with your weight on your forward foot – This is the single best solution for the hook. If you hook the ball, chances are that you finish with some of your weight still on your back foot. This causes you to come around the ball with a closed clubface. This is the number one cause of the deadly snap-hook. Finish with all of your weight forward, and you’ll never experience it.
